EQ BioMr. Evan Quintus, Director of Bands

Mr. Evan Quintus is the Director of Bands at Basha High School where he teaches Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz I, Creative Musicianship, and Color guard.

He aims to help his students discover aesthetic experiences through the act of creation and the interpretation of existing music literature.

Mr. Quintus received a BA degree in music education from Northern Arizona University where he studied horn with Nancy Sullivan. He received a MM degree in instrumental conducting, Northern Arizona University, under the instruction on Dr. Daniel Schmidt. During his time at NAU, Quintus was the conductor for the Collegiate Band and Horn Ensemble as well as conducting rehearsal assistant for the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. Prior to graduate studies, Mr. Quintus served as the band director at Phoenix Christian Preparatory School where he was responsible for developing and executing a vision for the wind and worship ensembles.

As a contemporary educator Quintus believes in the integration of technology, such as mobile applications and like technology, into the “traditional” rehearsal to enhance the success of the ensemble. Recently, Quintus has been invited as a guest clinician and conductor for several programs in the Phoenix area.



Miles Denny, Associate Director of Bands
Mr. Miles Denny is a graduate from Arizona state University where he received is B.M. in music education. He is currently the Associate Director of Bands at BHS and AMS. Miles was previously the guitar and band director at Smith Jr. High School and Stevenson Elementary in Mesa, AZ. Previously miles has worked as percussion specialist for various percussion ensembles in the valley including Dobson High School in Mesa and Basha High School.





Mr. Nathan Johnston, Director of Bands (2014-2017)

Viewed as a musical visionary, Johnston demonstrates the ability to bring forth investedIMG_6885 artistic expressions from both performers and audience members alike. As the Director of Bands at Basha High School in Chandler, AZ. Johnston encouraged a comprehensive instrumental program focused on creative opportunities in instrumental music. As a contemporary educator, Johnston champions the integration of modern technology and mobile applications to enhance an ensemble’s rehearsal success.
